Varun and Shreya met at a house party in New York City, back in the fall of 2018. In a room full of friends and strangers, their eyes kept finding their way back to each other – urging them to talk. It was a fun, flirty meet where Varun was pulling on moves like “Let me read your palm lines” and Shreya went along with it because she didn’t want the conversation to end – and it didn’t, till late AM. Fast forward to their first date which was supposed to be just dinner – ended up being pre-dinner drinks, dinner, post-dinner drinks and ice cream! They enjoyed being around each other and knew there’s so much more to them. In the fall of 2019, Varun met Shreya’s mom and Shreya spent Thanksgiving with Varun’s family – all of which brought them closer. Cut to January of 2020, Varun traveled all the way to Nairobi, Kenya (17 hours flight!) to seek her father’s blessings – which he did get! Through the year which was marked by the pandemic, Shreya and Varun realized they wanted to stick with each other through thick and thin – whether it was dancing in the kitchen, enacting out funny scenes from a movie, cooking meals for each other, or simply reveling in each other’s journey and growth – they wanted every bit of it. And well, while the rest is history, the best is their future together.
